INFORMATION

DYSON.

Ryan Asbury.

They/Them.

Birmingham. UK.

Asbury is an artist whose work delves into the complexities of queerness and its relationship to heteronormativity. Their art is an exploration of the ways in which queerness is often positioned as abject, and a critique of the oppressive structures that work to marginalise queer individuals. Asbury's work is inspired by a unique narrative that posits queer people as refugees who are seeking asylum on Pluto[pia], a place that exists at the intersection of phenomenological, digital, and physical reality. Their work offers a critical commentary on the ways in which our society constructs and polices identities. They seek to create a space of radical possibility, where individuals can explore the full range of their identities and embrace their potential for growth and self-discovery.
